In 2024, the value of vegetable production reached nearly $225 million, up $16 million from 2023. Asparagus Visit To Emphasize Local Produce Available In Markets, Stores
TRENTON – New Jersey Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Joe Atchison will highlight the Jersey Fresh season at Eastern Fresh Growers in Cedarville in Cumberland County at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 touring asparagus fields and the packing facility.
New Jersey ranks in the top 10 in the production of several crops, including fourth in the nation in asparagus. According to the latest USDA Census of Agriculture, New Jersey farmers had the fourth most acres of asparagus harvested at 1,970. The value of vegetable production in New Jersey in 2024 was nearly $225 million, up almost $16 million from 2023. Other crops with an early harvest that are becoming available daily include kale, lettuce, radishes, spinach, strawberries, and beets.
