Ezra’s feta cheese is quickly becoming a snack sensation. Born of a recent deal between an Israeli dairy manufacturer and an Amish cheese company in Ohio, Ezra’s feta is not only kosher, but also free of hormones and antibiotics due to the organic dairy used in production.
Gad Dairy, the fourth-largest dairy manufacturer in Israel, was looking for an American dairy partner to produce kosher cheeses for the U.S. market. Sarah Horowitz, an agricultural initiative program director who was instrumental in the deal, stated that Gad was very selective about who they wanted to go into business with:
“Gad Dairy was drawn to a family-run business because they’re a family-run business,” Horowitz said. “Bunker Hill has been operated by a family of four generations, and that’s one reason why they were a match.”
