Burlington, MA – NEPC and Center for Growing Talent by PMA (CGTbyPMA) will join forces again this year at the Annual Produce, Floral & Foodservice Expo, to attract new talent to the fresh produce and floral industry. This marks the eighth year NEPC is collaborating with CGTbyPMA’s Career Pathways program at the event to promote our industry as a career choice. University students will participate in customized education sessions to learn the latest produce, floral and foodservice trends, and will be paired with Career Ambassadors, who serve as on-site mentors, to build powerful connections with industry members.
Since 2010, Coast to Coast Produce has sponsored this event in memory of Peter Sticco, Owner and Founder of Coast to Coast Produce. Peter’s legacy lives on through educating these students about the produce and floral industry. NEPC is excited to invite students and faculty to this year’s show at the exclusive Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, Brewster, MA. The volunteer Career Ambassadors are retailers and vendors that mentor their designated student while at the show. Over the last seven years, 60 students have participated in the Career Pathways program. To date, over 50% of the students who have participated in the Career Pathways program in conjunction with the NEPC Expo have accepted an internship or employment in the produce and floral industry. The retention rate for those students still employed in the industry is 85%. “We are very proud of these statistics and we look forward to another successful event at the NEPC Produce, Floral & Food Service Expo in September” states Laura Sullivan, NEPC Executive Director. | http://newenglandproducecouncil.com/
