Online Grocer Relay Foods Launching In Durham & RTP

A new way to shop for groceries is coming to downtown Durham on Monday, and will soon make its way to the Research Triangle Park.
Relay Foods, a five-year-old online grocery store company based in Charlottesville, Virginia, allows customers to choose groceries from local vendors using an online or mobile app. Relay Foods puts the goods on one of its trucks for delivery to a customer's home, office or a convenient pick-up location.
According to Sarah Yates with Relay Foods, “Anything you could buy in a normal grocery store, you can get from Relay Foods.”
Relay Foods, which is currently in four other major markets, including Charlottesville , Richmond, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The company purchases commodities such as cereal and household snacks directly from the manufacturers and sells them to customers along with local goods.
