Specialty Food Association Names Bill Lynch Interim President

Bill Lynch has been appointed the interim president of the Specialty Food Association by the SFA’s Board of Directors. Lynch, who has 20 years of experience with the Association, will take over the leadership position as the contract expires for the current president, Phil Kafarakis. Kafarakis will assist Lynch over the coming month to take over leadership duties.

Since early February, thousands of specialty food products have been arriving at the Food Innovation Center at Rutgers University in Bridgeton, NJ, in preparation for the Specialty Food Association’s “specialty outstanding food innovation” sofi™ Awards – the most prestigious competition in specialty foods. Due to the pandemic, the judging has been delayed, leaving a large assortment of perishable delicacies needing a home.

The Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 66th annual Summer Fancy Food Show scheduled for June 28-30 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York will not take place as planned due to events outside SFA’s control – notably the national and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including travel restrictions, and the Javits Center’s critical service in fighting the pandemic that impacts the facility’s availability.
