Founding Specialty Food Association Member Alfred Lepore Has Passed Away

Alfred Lepore, whose company Ferrara was one of the Specialty Food Association’s founding members, has passed away at the age of 81. Ferrara, which started out as a small Italian bakery, was founded in 1892 by Alfred’s great uncle, who then passed it down to Alfred’s father, and in the 1960’s, to Alfred and his brother Anthony.

SFA, Industry Stakeholders Request Tariff Accommodation

The Specialty Food Association and dozens of industry stakeholders have requested in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, that all goods exported from Europe on October 2 or earlier be exempt from the retaliatory tariffs that are scheduled to take effect on certain specialites from the E.U., tomorrow.

Specialty Food Association Trendspotter Panel Selects Top Trends at 2019 Summer Fancy Food Show

The Specialty Food Association Trendspotter Panel scoured six football fields of exhibits at the 65th Annual Summer Fancy Food Show. The show, which took place June 23-25 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, had over 200,000 specialty foods and beverages on display. Building on previous findings and predictions, the panelists tasted their way through the show, identifying products currently attaining prominence in the specialty food industry.
