During the six-week campaign, more than 1,300 Publix stores displayed signs near participating produce vendors, inviting shoppers to explore a free, bilingual digital cookbook. Each sign featured a QR code linking to the cookbook packed with seasonal recipe inspiration, a section introducing the Publix dietitian team, and nutrition tips.

Darden Restaurants Helps Feeding America Expand Impact With Food Truck Donations

Through a $2 million grant from the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation and support from Penske Truck Leasing, 26-foot refrigerated trucks are being donated to 10 additional Feeding America member food banks. Each truck, with a capacity of up to 12,000 pounds, will support food distribution and mobile pantry programs at food banks serving communities experiencing the highest need.

These funds will help support organizations, including weekend backpack programs, food pantries and meal delivery programs. A portion of the donation will also help purchase 15 vehicles and supporting equipment for Feeding America partner food banks, allowing them to bring food to the people they serve. This brings PSMC’s total investment to help end hunger to over $63 million since 2015.

The National Grocers Association (NGA) and Feeding America held a congressional briefing on the necessity of maintaining SNAP Choice throughout the United States. The briefing consisted of expert speakers on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including an independent grocery retailer, a person with lived experience on SNAP, and a food bank advisor.
