Eastern Produce Council’s (EPC) TopGolf Event: Sponsored By South Carolina Department of Agriculture

South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh Weathers, kicked off the Department’s presentation by remembering former EPC Executive Director, John McAleavey, and his contributions to the EPC and the SCDA/EPC relationship that spans 5 decades. He expressed how impressed he was to see familiar faces in the crowd, as well as new ones, which he said is a sign of a thriving organization.

Food Safety Focus of Eastern Produce Council (EPC) Leadership Class Seminar

The food safety seminar was led by Meredith Melendez, Associate Professor at Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Ewing, NJ. She guided the group through a deeper understanding of food safety in the produce supply chain and discussion on what farmers go through to meet the requirements. The session emphasized the importance of communication throughout all sectors of the industry with respect to food safety.

EPC 2024 Leadership Class Examines Logistics Firsthand at Philly Port and Wholesale Market

The sixth Eastern Produce Council (EPC) Leadership Class toured the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market (PWPM) and Holt Logistics on March 19, 2024. “Logistics and distribution are such a crucial part of the produce industry,” said Susan McAleavey Sarlund, EPC Executive Director. “PWPM and Holt Logistics offer significant aspects of the supply chain for consideration in our leadership program.”

The EPC looks forward to honoring former President Marianne Santo, who passed away last September, at the John McAleavey Annual Gala which will take place at The Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, NJ on April 6th.  The night will include a Cocktail Hour, Dinner Buffet, a Jersey Boys Act, DJ, and more.
