EPC Leadership Class Rounds Out Industry Education at the New York Produce Show

The fifth Eastern Produce Council (EPC) Leadership Class finished an informative 2023 educational program with a robust schedule of events at the New York Produce Show and Conference (NYPS) in New York City from December 5 to 7, 2023. “Attending the show and conference provides unique industry support, mentorship and networking for the members of our leadership class,” says Theresa Lowden, President of the EPC and Executive Vice President, Produce and Floral at JOH.

EPC Leadership Class Gains Field Experience in New Jersey

The fifth Eastern Produce Council (EPC) Leadership Class had a chance to get their boots on the ground at Hionis Greenhouses in Whitehouse Station, NJ, and the Clifford E. and Melda C. Snyder Research and Extension Farm at Rutgers University located near Pittstown, NJ, on October 3 as part of the ongoing EPC leadership education program.

NJDA Hosts Annual BBQ at Demarest Farm, Eastern Produce Council/Nolan Family Foundation Scholarship Awarded

The New Jersey Department of Agriculture hosted the Eastern Produce Council’s Annual BBQ at Demarest Farm in Hillsdale, NJ, on Tuesday, May 23rd. EPC President, Marianne Santo, on behalf of the Nolan Family Foundation and Theresa Nolan, announced the winner of this year’s $5,000 EPC/Nolan Family Foundation Scholarship, Maren Burns, daughter of EPC member Brendan Burns of Bolthouse Farms. 

Eastern Produce Council Leadership Class Discusses Food Safety at Special Seminar

The 2023 Eastern Produce Council (EPC) Leadership Class received training on the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) during a seminar on April 25, prior to the general EPC membership meeting at Top Golf in Edison, NJ. “Twenty-two members of our class discussed food safety issues and worked in smaller groups on a very engaging exercise about low, medium and high risk situations,” said Susan McAleavey Sarlund, EPC Executive Director. “Food safety reaches into all aspects of our industry, so it’s an important topic to incorporate into any leadership development program.”
