The aquaculture industry was promoted through a Washington Post Op-Ed published by the Stronger America Through Seafood Campaign.

Stronger America Through Seafood campaign manager Drue Banta Winters and Environmental Defense Fund’s Maddie Voorhees published an opinion piece discussing the enormous opportunity the U.S. is missing by not prioritizing sustainable aquaculture production.

Drue and Maddie point to the bipartisan Marine Aquaculture Research for America (MARA) Act (S. 2586/H.R. 9802) as a science-based pathway to move American aquaculture forward responsibly.

As they write: “We represent what seems like an unlikely coalition — the Environmental Defense Fund and the food industry — but aquaculture is a sound and science-based practice that, when done responsibly, can be remarkably good for the environment.”
