October marks the 6th annual National Pescatarian Month, launched by the National Fisheries Institute, to encourage consumers to embrace a pescatarian diet rich in fish and seafood. The campaign features an updated e-cookbook with over 110 recipes, including 10 new ones, aimed at promoting healthy meal options. Through initiatives like the Dish on Fish blog, the month celebrates the benefits of seafood while supporting broader efforts of National Seafood Month.
The 6th annual National Pescatarian Month in October, a complement to National Seafood Month, gives consumers a reason to try fish and seafood for healthy, delicious and easy meals.
The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) is set to launch its sixth annual National Pescatarian Month in October, with engaging content that encourages consumers to make room on their plates for fish and seafood. The popular multi-platform campaign includes the award-winning Dish on Fish blog, an updated e-cookbook with over 110 pescatarian-friendly recipes — including 10 all-new recipes for this year — as well as digital, social and broadcast activations.
National Pescatarian Month is intended to celebrate those who have embraced a pescatarian lifestyle and reminds everyone that fish and other seafood should be a regular part of a versatile, healthy and delicious diet. Another goal of National Pescatarian Month is to help bolster efforts already underway by retailers, foodservice operators and brands as part of the existing National Seafood Month, also in October.
“Each year we see more momentum and positive feedback around National Pescatarian Month, especially through our top-ranked Dish on Fish blog and our fully updated e-cookbook, ‘Everyday Seafood Recipes: 100+ Quick and Easy Dishes,’” said Rima Kleiner, MS, RDN, a registered dietitian-nutritionist who creates delicious recipes for and shares easy meal planning tips, science-based nutrition information and relatable health news on Dish on Fish. “The goal has always been to show people that a pescatarian lifestyle filled with fish and vegetables can be smart, delicious and easy.”
“Everyday Seafood Recipes” features 10 all-new recipes for 2025, including Lobster Burgers, Sourdough Crab Melts, a Seacuterie Board and Sheet-Pan Tuna Steaks with Vegetables, as well as tried-and-true favorites like Salmon Smash Burgers and 7-Layer Tuna Pasta Salad.
As the official sponsor of National Pescatarian Month, Dish on Fish will promote the e-cookbook, pescatarian-focused meal plans, recipes and cooking tips throughout the month of October. NFI partners with other seafood industry groups to spread the word about National Pescatarian Month and the health benefits of a fish- or seafood-centered diet.
“National Pescatarian Month benefits our members, it benefits the fish and seafood industry, and it benefits consumers,” said NFI’s Brandon Phillips, Vice President of External Affairs and Councils. “We are proud to promote National Pescatarian Month through Dish on Fish and its sponsorship of the campaign, and we look forward to celebrating a healthy and tasty pescatarian lifestyle together.”
