As you may know, we are now carrying Loch Etive Ocean Trout! This wonderful option comes to us direct from the west coast of Scotland. Raised in a pristine fjord 30 km long and up to 145 meters deep, Loch Etive Ocean Trout is a great addition to any menu!
About Loch Etive
A “sea loch” of glacial origin, the loch has been eroded by the flow of ice from successive glaciations over the last two million years. Loch Etive’s unique mix of brackish water (fresh and seawater) and fast flowing currents with high oxygen levels provide the perfect conditions to grow superior Ocean Trout. The farms we are working with operate at the lowest stocking densities and highest welfare standard in the United Kingdom.
Flavor and Texture
Loch Etive Ocean trout has a delicious, mild and nutty flavor. When cooked, ocean trout is tender and flaky. Ocean trout has a much more subdued color than other trout (or salmon). Feature Loch Etive Ocean Trout as you would salmon – it’s very versatile and can work well baked, broiled, roasted, pan seared or smoked.
