From June 10-12, restaurants across the country are devoting a portion of their profits to help people affected by the Gulf oil spill and to support continuing efforts to restore the coast.
Proceeds raised by the effort, which is called Dine Out for the Gulf Coast, will go to the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund, which is administered by the Greater New Orleans Foundation.
The benefit is the brainchild of Jimmy Galle, owner of Gulfish, a seafood distributor based in Sausalito, Calif.
Galle said 95 percent of the seafood he sells comes from the Gulf of Mexico, but his interest in the region isn't merely professional.
