ALMA, N.B. – Lobster fishermen in both the Bay of Fundy and Gulf region have asked the federal government to extend the spring lobster season.
They say while the long winter delayed the start of the season, the run-off from the heavy snow this year is keeping the water colder than normal and affecting lobster migration.
Typically, lobsters migrate closer to shore as the water warms up each spring. But as Bay of Fundy lobster fisherman Martin Collins explained, this year the migration hasn’t happened.
