National Shrimp Council Celebrates Football Season With 'Tailgate Takeover' Blogger Campaign

McLEAN, Va. – Football fans nationwide can indulge in mouthwatering shrimp recipes all season long thanks to an online initiative created by the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Shrimp Council and partner Weber-Stephen Products LLC.

“Tailgate Takeover” was created as an ode to the ever-popular tailgate season and the foods that go along with it. For the campaign, the creative food bloggers serving as the Shrimp Council’s 2015 blogger ambassadors were invited to create unique, tailgate-inspired recipes utilizing the Weber® Q® 1200™ portable gas grill and positioning shrimp as the star player.

The campaign capitalized on the bloggers' expansive and devoted followings and culinary creativity to showcase bite-sized shrimp sensations guaranteed to be a hit in living rooms and stadium parking lots across the country. By focusing on shrimp as the main ingredient perfectly cooked on Weber’s new color line of Q® 1200™ portable gas grills, the bloggers developed four remarkable – and tailgate-friendly – recipes.

“We know tailgate season is about more than just football, it’s also about food,” remarked Judy Dashiell, Senior Vice President of NFI. “Consumers are looking for easy, creative and delicious finger foods to accompany their celebrations, and shrimp fits perfectly in this category. Through this campaign combination of Weber’s portable grills and the bloggers’ expertise, we provided fans everywhere with a variety of recipes that will stick around even after football season.”

Tailgate Treats with Shrimp and Weber

“From dips and spreads to skewers and sliders, football fans today are as creative as ever with their pre-game snacks and meals,” said Dashiell. “Thanks to its ease of preparation and versatility, shrimp serves as the perfect ingredient for all types of tailgate recipes. Plus, Weber’s portable grills make the process even easier. We say it's the delicious taste of grilled shrimp for the win this season!”
