BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is extending shrimping season until 6 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019.
This applies to Mississippi territorial waters south of the Intracoastal Waterway and west of the Gulfport Ship Channel. Waters north of the ICW remain closed. Waters east of the Gulfport Ship Channel and south of the ICW are open to shrimping year-round.
MDMR conducts routine shrimp sampling, and if there is an indication that large numbers of juvenile brown shrimp have moved into this area, shrimp season may be closed earlier than 6 a.m. on May 10.
