Future Is Uncertain For Alaskan Tanner, Blue King Crab Stocks

Federal fisheries scientists engaged in ongoing research on Alaska's crab fisheries say there is a growing body of evidence that suggests the future for tanner and blue king crab stocks in Alaska is, at best, uncertain.
Those ominous words are contained in an Alaska Fisheries Science Center report on crab adaptability focused on effects of ocean acidification due to climate change, which was released on March 1.
The big unanswered question, he said, is whether the change in acidic conditions over decades is gradual, can crabs adapt?
