The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is temporarily closing areas of North Bay and East Bay for the harvest of shellfish including oysters, clams and mussels. In this context, “shellfish” does not include scallops, shrimp or crabs.
The areas closed at sunset Thursday are No. 1012 North Bay Western, No. 1212 East Bay Section 1, and No. 1222 East Bay Section 2.
Closings are based on water samples, which will continue to be collected for the area; when samples conform to standards in the area management plan, the area will be reopened.
