Continuing to monitor the impact of this year’s record floodwaters, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries released updated data on the losses seen in the state’s fisheries.
As of Aug. 31, oyster mortality on some reefs across the state reach as high as 100%, including in St. Bernard Parish and the east side of the Vermilion and Atchafalaya Basin.
The latest data also showed the loss to the west side of that basin ranged from 76% to 80%, In Calcasieu Lake, it ranged from 2% to 89%.
