Commercial Spotted Seatrout Season To Open Oct. 1

BILOXI, Miss. – Commercial fishing season for spotted seatrout (Cynoscion nebulosus) opens in Mississippi territorial waters on Friday Oct. 1, 2010, at 12:01 a.m. and closes on Sept. 30, 2011, at 12:01 a.m. or when the 40,000 pound catch limit has been reached.

The opening of the commercial spotted seatrout season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) (a) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
