Casualties from a massive oil spill currently crippling the Gulf Coast's economy and its marine life can be found as far north as the seafood retailers in Hattiesburg's backyard.
It's going to kill me. It's going to put me out of business," said Kim McCloskey, who owns Louisiana Seafood Connection on U.S. 98 with her husband, Don.
Remy Bozant, owner of The Wharf Seafood Market in Petal, shares the same sentiment. The problem isn't skyrocketing seafood prices, he explains. The problem is that there is simply no seafood to sell.
"My wife (Hang Nguyen) and I have discussed closing. You can't have a store without any product," said Bozant, who opened the store the end of January.
