Central Market Adds Harmoniously Raised Verlasso Salmon

MIAMI – Known for changing the grocery shopping experience for foodies across Texas since 1994, Central Market is now offering the world’s first harmoniously raised salmon from Verlasso® on its Foodie bucket list. Central Market decided to carry Verlasso salmon as it fits nicely into the store’s ongoing commitment to purchasing healthy, sustainable and delicious products that inspire their shoppers to celebrate all types of food.

“We strive to inspire a passion and curiosity for food and ideas and the addition of Verlasso salmon to our stores helps us satisfy both those goals,” said Darren Menefee, Seafood Business Development Manager for Central Market. “Verlasso salmon provides a two-fold value for our foodie customers, including a fish that is raised thoughtfully that results in a delicious and delicate flavor. Because each fish is traceable to the source where it was raised, we can guarantee our customers every Verlasso salmon is an excellent source of high protein and healthy Omega-3s with great moisture and a buttery texture they’ll enjoy.”

Verlasso’s harmonious approach employs methods that protect ocean biodiversity and reduce depletion of the ocean’s resources, all while raising great-tasting, Omega-3 rich salmon. Specifically, Verlasso salmon are raised at half the pen density of traditionally farmed salmon, and the room to swim against the pure ocean currents results in healthy, leaner fish that taste closer to wild salmon. Spacious pens for the salmon also allow the ocean waters to naturally rejuvenate.

“What is great about Central Market is that each store is a true market where consumers thrive on sharing ideas about food, and Verlasso is excited to become part of that experience,” said Gaston Dupre, Director of Verlasso. “We are pleased that after trials at two stores, Central Market chose to expand availability of Verlasso to all their stores, allowing their customers to have access to a much needed sustainably farmed premium salmon. Our partnership with Central Market encourages Texans to talk about where their food comes from as well as learn how to prepare it.”

To introduce Verlasso to Central Market shoppers throughout the Lone Star State, Central Market and Verlasso are collaborating to create in-store experiences that will be activated later this year. These events will include tasting and cooking demonstrations highlighting Verlasso salmon dishes for every season and sharing Verlasso’s approach to raising fish harmoniously.
