Wegmans, the family-owned N.Y.-based grocery chain, announced plans today for a Raleigh location. This is in addition to the sites planned for Chapel Hill and Cary.
A statement from Wegmans spokeswoman Jo Natale indicates, "Wegmans has signed a lease with Regency Centers Corporation to build a 120,000 sq. ft. store in Raleigh, NC (Wake County) on Wake Forest Road near US Interstate 440. This site is in addition to two sites (Chapel Hill and Cary Towne Blvd.) announced earlier this year. In addition to these, Wegmans is considering other sites in the Raleigh/Durham market, but until there are firm deals for each site, we are unable to share the locations or other details."
The family-owned, Rochester, N.Y.-based chain has 88 stores in New York, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts and they are continuing to announce upcoming stores planned for North Carolina.
