Waco’s Bestyett Sandwiches of Waco, Texas, is voluntarily recalling its 3.5 ounce packages of Pimento Cheese Sandwiches and Chicken Salad Sandwiches because they contain undeclared eggs. Individuals that have an allergy to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled sandwiches were distributed in Waco, TX; Moody, TX; and Lorena, TX through retail convenience stores.
The product comes in a 3.5 ounce, clear plastic wrap marked with Waco’s Bestyett Sandwiches, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches or Chicken Salad Sandwiches. All recalled products were shipped prior to April 6, 2011. No other products are involved.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the egg-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of eggs.
The Food and Drug Administration has been notified of this voluntary recall.
Consumers who have purchased 3.5 ounce Sandwich are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 254-753-8469 Monday – Friday 8am-5pm.
