PLYMPTON — Food-service giant Sysco has completed a $5.7 million purchase of land in Plympton for a mammoth distribution center, sealing the deal on a development that one local community rejected and others wanted badly.
“It’s a done deal,” Sysco Boston LLC President Fred Casinelli said. “We’re going to move pretty fast.”
He said the company plans to break ground within 30 days on the 650,000-square-foot building, which will be located on 133 acres off Route 44 at the Spring Street interchange. The center could be open by July 2012, he said.
The center will replace Sysco’s current location in Norton. The company expects to add about 75 employees to its work force.
