Meijer To Invest $400M This Year In New Stores & Remodeling Projects

Midwest grocery chain Meijer will invest more than $400 million this year in the opening of its nine new stores and the remodeling of 32 supercenters, the company said Wednesday.
That investment includes this year's opening of the new Meijer supercenters in Sussex and Waukesha, along with seven other stores in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. The money also will cover the remodeling of 32 Meijer stores, including those in Indiana and Michigan.
Wisconsin, where the big-box chain is newer to the scene, will not see any remodeling projects. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer made its entrance into the Wisconsin market in 2015 and currently operates four in the state, all of which are in the Milwaukee area.
