WALKER, MI – A Meijer executive instrumental in developing the retailer's hunger relief initiatives is joining the Feeding America West Michigan's board of directors.
Janet Emerson, Meijer's executive vice president of retail operations, will be among 18 other board members who provide strategic oversight of the Comstock Park-based food bank that serves 1,250 food pantries in 40 West Michigan counties from the Upper Peninsula to South Haven.
“Hunger is a problem that many people struggle with daily; yet it’s a problem that no one should have to face,” Emerson said. “I’m honored to work with Feeding America West Michigan and its generous volunteers to help feed hungry families in West Michigan.”
At Meijer, Emerson is responsible for ensuring Meijer team members and processes deliver a positive shopping experience for customers in nearly 200 stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
