Beeping cash registers and rolling shopping carts were the overwhelming sounds heard by customers as they walked into the new Martin’s Food Markets store in Smithsburg on Friday morning.
The store was bustling with shoppers just hours after officials cut a ribbon to celebrate the new Washington County store, which joined three others in the Tri-State area.
“It’s been extremely busy. We’re happy to see that,” said John Ruane, chief merchandising officer for Giant/Martin’s. “In a short period of time, I think we were able to take the store and really re-engineer it with a lot of fresh concepts.”
