Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee Inc. chief executive, has been named Retailer of the Year by the Iowa Grocery Industry Association. Edeker will be honored at the association's Hall of Fame dinner on Oct. 22 at Veterans Memorial Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.
Edeker, 51, was selected to receive the top honor after being nominated by his peers, the association said.
Edeker, a 30-year veteran with Hy-Vee, became the West Des Moines-based grocer's top executive in May of 2012. Before that he served as the company's president and chief operating officer. Hy-Vee operates 237 stores in eight states.
