A food distribution company that was once named one of the fastest-growing companies in the region is now closing the doors of its Hatboro facility and laying off 92 workers.
According to a WARN notice, Benjamin Foods LLC filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the company is closing its 1001 South York Road facility and will begin laying off the first round of employees on Oct. 20. Two more rounds will follow on Nov. 3 and Nov. 24, and all layoffs are expected to be permanent.
“Benjamin Foods is a faltering company which sought new capital or business in order to stay open,” the company said in the notice, adding it didn’t provide a WARN notice sooner since it could “ruin the the opportunity to get the new capital or business.”
