Windset Farms is expanding its Delta, British Columbia greenhouse with 38 acres of “ultra-lit” production—bringing lit cultivation to 85 acres and total site acreage to 168 after planned 2027 additions—to deliver summer yields year‑round using next‑generation LED lighting, advanced climate systems, renewable energy, and water and nutrient recapture. CEO Steven Newell says the project boosts taste, quality, and sustainability while enhancing regional supply reliability.
Windset Farms® is taking another step in shaping the future of sustainable greenhouse farming with a new phase of expansion at its Delta, British Columbia facility. This investment follows the success of Windset’s most recent expansion, powered by sustainable and renewable hydroelectricity. This next phase of development will build on that foundation by incorporating even more advanced climate systems, next-generation LED lighting, and renewable energy solutions, taking production and product quality to an even higher level.
The expansion adds 38 acres of “ultra-lit” production in Delta bringing Windset’s total lit cultivation area to 85 acres plus 45 acres of conventional, non-lit, greenhouse production. Following the completion of this next phase in summer of 2026, Windset has further plans to add an additional 38 acres of lit production in 2027. This will bring the total acreage at Windset’s Delta site to 168 acres. Supported by an extensive partner grower base in Mexico and British Columbia and a 168 acre greenhouse facility in Santa Maria, California, Windset is uniquely positioned to supply its customers with unmatched fulfillment, reliability, and freshness.
“Having the ability to have summer yields all winter long from these new greenhouses is a game changer for our customers.” said Steven Newell, CEO of Windset Farms. “Ultra lit production allows us to deliver the taste, quality, and yields at the highest levels even in the middle of winter.”
This latest greenhouse facility will also include advanced water processing and recycling, nutrient recapture, and improved automated climate management systems to help minimize the environmental footprint of every tomato, cucumber, or pepper grown.
“Consumers are asking for fresh produce that is affordable, sustainable, and delicious”, added Newell. “We’re growing closer to where people live with less impact on the planet yet with the taste and consistency that consumers demand.”
Construction in Delta is underway, with the first planting scheduled for late summer 2026. The expansion solidifies Windset’s role as a leader in sustainable greenhouse production, allowing families across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest to enjoy the taste of summer all year long.
