AMADO, ARIZ. — Wholesum™ announced today that they will be growing their Fair Trade certified program by introducing organically grown artichokes from Salinas, California with harvests starting at the end of April. The organic artichokes will be grown by a California based partner farm, who is committed to growing organically with Fair Trade certification.
For Wholesum™, organic artichokes will be a completely new undertaking. “We are very excited to not only be expanding into a new organic produce category but to nurture our relationship with other growers who share the same passion and commitment to Fair Trade,”says Ricardo Crisantes, Chief Commercial Officer of Wholesum™. The success of this partnership in as well as the alignment of the two companies in terms of quality, vision and values gave them the confidence to launch into artichokes and will soon source California brussels sprouts from them as well.
The launch of these programs will contribute significantly to the farm’s community development funds which are a core part to the Fair Trade program. “Our workers, as well as those from our partner farms are always top of mind. We’re constantly thinking of ways to improve their everyday lives and build thriving agricultural communities,” says Crisantes.
Wholesum’s organic artichokes will be available April through October, and their organic brussels sprouts are available now through October. Both items are grown in open-field environments.
