AMADO, ARIZ. — Wholesum, Fair Trade certified growers and shippers of organic produce, continues to pave the way in the organic and tomato categories. Today they announced the launch of their high-flavor snacking tomato lineup that comes in new, convenient and eye-catching top seal packaging. They will feature the line at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in October in Anaheim, CA.
“At Wholesum, we have always emphasized flavor in our products, but this line is beyond compare,” says Ricardo Crisantes, CCO of Wholesum. “Our customers have loved our snacking tomato varieties, so we thought why not bring them together as a flavor-centric collection? We truly believe that these are some of the best tasting snacking tomatoes on market, and we’re very excited to showcase them at PMA.”
The collection features Wholesum’s most beloved organic snacking tomatoes in creative and colorful packaging. The line includes:
- Poppies – sweet and snackable cherry tomatoes on the vine that are grown to deliver high flavor and picked on the vine for freshness and aroma.
- Kaleidos – diverse and delightful snacking tomatoes that come in different colors including yellow, orange, red and brown. The new package offers a consistent proportion of colored tomatoes per pack.
- Darlings – luscious and loveable, deep-red grape tomatoes that are the sweetest of the bunch with brix levels above 7.5.
- Brites – colorful and crave-able, crisp cherry tomatoes on the vine. The pack comes with two different colored strands of cherry tomatoes, a red and a yellow or orange option so consumers can experience the flavor, texture and aroma of each.
The idea behind this new lineup is to bring excitement back to tomatoes. The new, fun packaging celebrates the personality of each tomato. Another exciting feature of the packaging is that it is 100% recyclable. The container is made with 100% PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and the film with PET/EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate).
“We don’t need to sacrifice flavor and fun to be more environmentally friendly,” says Crisantes. “We will continue to explore options that are better for the environment in more of our product lines while delivering to our customers’ needs.”
