THERMAL, Calif. — North Shore Greenhouses, LLC, has appointed Alex Sanchez as president, bringing more than three decades of agricultural and operational leadership to the grower behind the nation’s top-selling living herb brand, North Shore Living Herbs & Greens.

“Alex brings an incredible combination of agricultural knowledge, operational expertise and leadership,” said Leo Overgaag, CEO of North Shore Greenhouses. “As North Shore enters its next chapter, his experience and perspective will help us build on what our family and team have created over the past 40 years.”

Sanchez joins North Shore after more than 20 years with Grimmway Farms/Cal-Organic Farms. Most recently, he served as ranch unit director, leading large-scale organic farming operations across the Desert Southwest and overseeing a program encompassing 65 vegetable crops.

Sanchez holds a bachelor’s degree in plant science from the University of Arizona and is deeply connected to the Coachella Valley agricultural community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Coachella Valley Water District and holds leadership roles with regional agricultural organizations.

“We’re excited to have Alex join our team because of who he is behind all that experience,” said Suzette Overgaag, co-founder and vice president of North Shore Greenhouses. “He shares the values that have shaped North Shore for nearly 40 years: a passion for growing, doing things the right way and believing in our people. We’re excited to continue our mission of category innovation and see what we can all build together!”

Sanchez joins North Shore at an important moment in the company’s evolution as it continues to invest in its people, advance innovation, steward the earth’s resources responsibly, build on its leadership and shape the future of fresh.

About North Shore Greenhouses

For nearly 40 years, family-owned North Shore Greenhouses has grown fresh produce in California’s Coachella Valley. What began with founders Leo and Suzette Overgaag’s dream of building a family farm has grown into a business dedicated to bringing longer-lasting freshness, vibrant flavor and the joy of cooking into kitchens across the country.

That passion led North Shore to pioneer the living herb category, becoming the first to bring herbs with their roots still attached to the refrigerated section of the produce department. Today, North Shore Living® herbs offer shoppers a fresher, longer-lasting alternative to traditional cut herbs, with up to three times longer shelf life.

North Shore was the nation’s first hydroponic greenhouse grower to be certified organic and sustainable, reflecting its longstanding commitment to responsible growing practices. Its hydroponic greenhouses allow the team to carefully manage growing conditions and deliver high-quality organic living herbs year-round. Practices such as solar power, geothermal energy and thoughtful water stewardship further integrate sustainability into the company’s operations.

After nearly four decades, the company continues to innovate with new products, fresh approaches to packaging and merchandising, and ideas that make fresh herbs easier to discover, use and enjoy.

From the company that created the living herb category, North Shore continues to grow what’s next, helping retail partners bring more freshness, flavor and inspiration to the produce department. Its products also help consumers make better choices for home-cooked meals and turn everyday occasions into something special.
