FISHERS — Directors of the New York Apple Association have re-elected Sarah Dressel Nikles, of Dressel Farms in New Paltz, as chair of the 15-member board for a second year.
Dressel Nikles, a fourth-generation apple farmer, became the youngest person and first woman to lead the trade organization’s board when she was elected last year.
At the time, other directors said they believed her youth would be an asset in helping New York’s 600 growers market apples to new generations of consumers amid rapid changes in the food industry. The state is the country’s second-largest grower of apples after Washington.
