Orlando, Fla. – The National Mango Board (NMB) has launched their brand new www.mango.org website. This online destination for all things mango features different versions of the site for each audience, including consumers, mango industry, retail, foodservice, nutrition professionals and media.
According to NMB director of marketing, Wendy McManus, “The new site will engage each of our audiences by delivering the information they need most and encouraging them to discover mangos in a whole new way.” The site will include many interactive features, incorporating online sharing, user customization and user submitted content, along with a fresh new graphic look and feel. McManus continued, “I think visitors will be blown away by the new site. It looks fantastic and is so easy to navigate.”
Mango industry members will find useful information throughout the site, particularly in the Market Information, Improving Mango Quality and Helping Your Business tabs. In the Market Information section, industry members will have access to the mango crop report and an interface for building customized historical data reports on volume and prices. Under Improving Mango Quality, the results of the NMB’s extensive quality research program are featured, along with the Mango Postharvest Best Management Practices Manual. In the Helping Your Business tab, visitors can find resources such as POS materials, mango images, PLU codes, category development, consumer research and much more.
A key challenge in creating the new site was the sheer volume of content available. The original NMB site was built in 2006 and was designed to serve just the consumer audience. Since then, the NMB added sections for the mango industry, retailers, foodservice and other audiences, and the amount of information on the site grew exponentially. According to NMB executive director, William Watson, “It’s refreshing to navigate the new site and be able to find everything so easily and intuitively. We’ve always heard positive feedback about our website, and now it’s even better.”
Visitors to the site are encouraged to explore the various audience sections, which are accessible via links at the very top of the page. Spanish pages are available by clicking the “en español” link. Feedback to the new site is welcomed at info@manog.org.
About National Mango Board
The National Mango Board is a national promotion and research organization, which is supported by assessments from both domestic and imported mangos. The board was designed to drive awareness and consumption of fresh mangos in the U.S. One cup of mango is only 100 calories, an excellent source of vitamins A and C, a good source of fiber and an amazing source of tropical flavor.
Mango availability per capita has quadrupled since 1990 to an estimated 2.24 pounds per year in 2010. Mango import volume for 2010 was 770 million pounds. Learn more at www.mango.org.
