On July 16th, wholesaler and brokerage, E Foods Inc., based in Altamonte Springs, FL celebrated Manuel Fernandez’s 16th anniversary. This year also marks 40 years of service for Fernandez in the produce industry.
During college, he started working for his father in Puerto Rico at the family produce business, Saturnino Fernandez, Inc. There he began training, eventually taking on roles in sales, management and ownership.
The sale of the family business in 2001 led Fernandez to move to Florida with his wife and daughter. He then began working at E Foods Inc as a sales representative, where he continues to build E Foods’ relationships in Puerto Rico.
Over the years Fernandez has seen the produce industry organize sales by floor stacked containers to unified pallets. Fernandez has also experienced buying and selling produce on two distinct sides – importing vs exporting. He says, “as a salesman in the produce industry, my greatest challenge (over the last 40 years) was switching from specializing in imports to exports.” Fernandez confidently plans to continue exporting produce for the duration of his career.
