IMMOKALEE, Fla. – Lipman, North America’s largest open field tomato grower, recently announced Suresh DeCosta as its new director of food safety, North America and Latin America.

Most recently Manager Quality Systems for U.S. Supply Chain Management at McDonald’s Corporation, DeCosta brings more than 15 years of quality management experience, and an abundance of industry knowledge and executive expertise to his role. In addition, he is the chairman of the United Fresh Produce Association (UFPA) Food Safety and Technology Council and also serves on its Board of Directors.

DeCosta has received multiple industry awards, including the UFPA technical award for his leadership in helping standardize agricultural food safety practices.

DeCosta received his bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Slippery Rock University and his master’s degree in food science from Chapman University. He will be based in Chicago.
