L&M Companies has hired 40 year industry veteran Keith Horder to fill the new position of Director of Business Development for their Washington business unit. Gary James, COO of L&M, commented that Horders broad experience in executive positions in all aspects of the industry for companies such as Safeway, SUPERVALU, Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, Rainier, and Turbana make him an invaluable member of our team. Rich Gonzales, General Manager of the Washington operation, reiterated how important Keiths background and experience will be in expanding our Washington program. Horder commented that he felt his retail, wholesale, and marketing experience was a perfect blend, giving him insight into the needs of customers. Horder gives up his successful consulting business, built over the past six years, to join L&M. He said, This is an opportunity to really make something good happen with a team of highly ethical professionals that have the same desire for success. He continued, From our sales team, to our grower/shippers, everyone is willing to step-up and be the best. There are examples of this attitude all around.
One example Horder noted is long-term partner Apple King. They just invested in a new electronic visual sizer and sorter from Holland, the first in the industry. The consistency of pack at all grade levels is amazing. This is the kind of commitment that will continue throughout our organization as we grow in the best possible way. I feel that I bring a lot of innovative ideas and plans that will benefit both our customers and our partners, said Keith.
