Christopher Valadez, incoming President of the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California, has been appointed to the California State Board of Food and Agriculture’s Board of Directors. Valadez will serve as the President of the Grower Shipper Association of Central California beginning in mid-May 2019. Full release by Governor’s Office available here.
The California State Board of Food and Agriculture serves the interest of the state’s diverse agricultural community. As an advisory board to the governor and secretary, the board addresses key issues that are of importance to California’s farmers and ranchers, community stakeholders, and citizens. The California State Board of Food and Agriculture is appointed by the Governor, and carefully selected to represent a broad range of agricultural commodities, a variety of geographic regions and both the University of California and California State University academic systems.
GSA’s Chairman of the Board Jason Smith noted that this appointment will provide GSA new opportunities to work with fellow thought leaders in California agriculture. “Chris’s appointment to the Board complements the substantial value he will bring to GSA. The opportunity to offer insights and deepen engagement with key decision-makers in Sacramento can only help to educate and influence the many issues that our members are managing on a daily basis.”
