The event took place on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the JW Marriott at LA LIVE.

Caplan received the Legacy Award for her role as the first woman to own a U.S. produce business, her continuous efforts in the advancement of women in the business world, and her activism in women’s rights. Caplan is most known for introducing the Kiwifruit to America in 1962, and Frieda’s, Inc. has since introduced over 200 specialty produce items to U.S. supermarkets.
