Fresh King Announces Partnership With Agroindustria Ocoeña

Homestead, FL – Fresh King, Inc. is pleased to announce a new partnership with Agroindustria Ocoeña and the Castillo family in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Agroindustria Ocoeña is a vertically integrated organization and is the largest greenskin avocado exporter in the Dominican Republic, according to Alvaro Perpuly, general manager of Fresh King. The partnership involves integrated production, packing and sales of tropical fruits, coconuts, Asian vegetables and multiple greenhouse products. The primary products that will be distributed initially through the partnership will include greenskin avocados and greenhouse-grown bell peppers.

“The agreement also includes the exclusive production and sales of the patented late-season, delicious-eating ‘Carla’ avocado variety,” notes Perpuly. “This addition will extend Fresh King’s green skin avocado season into April, allowing for a steady avocado volume availability that is nearly year-round.”

Agroindustria Ocoeña is the only Primus Certified facility for packing greenskin avocados in the Dominican Republic,” stresses Perpuly, adding that it “has the only hydrocooling packing line in the Caribbean country, which provides exclusive cold chain treatment of greenskin avocados. In fact, the cold chain is maintained from the time the fruit arrives at the packinghouse through packing and shipment from the facility, into refrigerated sea containers, to delivery at the customer’s doors.”

Fresh King will be responsible for sales and transportation of all products. This includes local clientele in the Dominican Republic as well as all customers in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Europe.
