Church Brothers Promotes Key Team Members in Food Safety

SALINAS, Calif. – Church Brothers has recently promoted key team members within the Food Safety team.

Victor Soto has been promoted to Food Safety Manager and will be leading the Food Safety team. Soto joined Church Brothers seven years ago after receiving his certificate in Agriculture Food Safety from Hartnell College. Soto has worked with both growers and the Church Brothers Harvesting team to grow and enhance the food safety programs.

Megan Chedwick, Director of Food Safety commented, “Victor is a hard-working, dedicated team player who has contributed greatly to the success of the Church Brothers food safety program, customer visits, and regulatory audits. I look forward to Victor continuing to grow his career with Church Brothers and am confident he will continue pushing our food safety program to be the best in the industry.”

Maria “Yulissa” Chavarin has been promoted to Food Safety Specialist and will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, crew inspections, and employee trainings, just to name a few of her responsibilities. Chavarin joined the Church Brothers team in 2016 initially working with the broccoli harvesting department; she then transitioned to a role as Cooler Quality Control Technician in May of 2022.

“With Yulissa’s work on a Church Brothers harvesting crew and role in quality control, she brings an invaluable perspective to the Food Safety team. Yulissa will have a lot to learn, but I’m confident that with her experience and the training opportunities we have in place, she will be a great asset to the field food safety team”, Chedwick noted.
