California Giant Berries Wear Pink Ribbons In October

Watsonville, CA – For the month of October California Giant Berry Farms packaging will take on a new color to share messaging with shoppers about Breast Cancer Prevention. As a proud sponsor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October California Giant will donate $10,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Supporting healthy lifestyles and giving back are continued commitments at California Giant Berry Farms and the company regularly communicates with consumers about the brand's mission of health and philanthropy. “We want our customers and consumers to know that purchasing our berries makes a difference in their health and in the community” says Cindy Jewell, Director of Marketing.

The company chose the National Breast Cancer Foundation based on their mission to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need. Fresh produce, and berries as part of a healthy diet can also serve as part of a prevention program in fighting some cancers and heart disease. California Giant delivers a strong diet and exercise message to consumers through marketing efforts every day and as part of their ten year commitment to a national cycling team encouraging healthy eating and exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle.

During October consumers will see a pink ribbon on the front of the California Giant label on strawberry clamshells in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. Wording on the back of the package will direct consumers to www.CalGiantCares.com where they will get more information about the company’s commitment to the cause and have the opportunity to read personal stories of battling cancer and get involved. For consumers visiting the promotion pages of the company website www.calgiant.com/win they will also see messaging and have an opportunity to participate in supporting the cause.

California Giant Berry Farms is an active long time supporter of the American Cancer Society, Children’s Hospice, the Jacobs Heart Foundation that supports children battling cancer, and the Santa Cruz Cancer Foundation that provides research funding to the University of California.
