Apio’s Pink Tray Promotion Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Apio, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Landec Corporation (LNDC) and a leading producer of fresh-cut vegetable products, will donate a minimum of $25,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) to help its programs geared toward early detection and building awareness of the disease.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month offers a chance for individuals and corporations to get involved in creating awareness and generating support for a cure. An estimated five million Americans are expected to be diagnosed with the disease over the next 25 years, and a healthy diet combined with an active lifestyle remains one of our best weapons in the fight. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a key ingredient to a healthy lifestyle and as such, Apio is getting involved by introducing the Petite Pink Tray Promotion.
“Breast cancer is a frightening topic, and as more awareness is brought to the issue, organizations will be better able to fund early detection programs, research targeted at finding the cure, and programs that support families impacted by the disease,” says Apio Director of Marketing Cali Tanguay. “We at Apio are proud to support NBCF in its determined efforts.”
Apio’s Pink Petite Tray Promotion will be featured in October. Throughout the month, the company’s 22-ounce Eat Smart® Petite Vegetable Trays will be packaged in an eye-catching pink base with promotional stickers to let shoppers know that their purchases will help to support NBCF. In-store danglers noting that “these veggie trays are making a difference” will further attract shoppers’ attention and encourage their participation. As a part of this program, Apio will donate approximately 20 cents from the purchase of each tray for a minimum of $25,000.
“Apio’s products are a perfect complement to nationwide activities during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to healthy eating year round,” says Tanguay. “Eating fresh raw vegetables can play an important role in improving health and reducing the risk of cancer.”
NBCF is committed to spreading knowledge and fostering hope in the fight against breast cancer. Through its many programs, NBCF helps inspire the courage needed to win this monumental battle. The NBCF website at www.nbcf.org offers more information on the organization and facts about the early detection of breast cancer.
