Friesland, Wisconsin – (July 21, 2010) – Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc., of Friesland, previously known as Alsum Produce, Inc., recently celebrated the introduction of its new corporate name and logo.
A leading grower/repacker of potatoes and onions and a full line fruit and vegetable distributor, Alsum changed its name to better reflect its long-term growth plans and commitment to locally grown produce.
Alsum’s celebration included a visit by its employees to the company’s farm in Arena, Wis., where they toured the fields and saw how potatoes were grown. Larry Alsum, President and CEO, conducted the field tours where actual plants from different varieties of potatoes were dug up to show how potatoes grow from seed and how they vary by variety.
“The field tour was a great opportunity to show our employees how our company strives to achieve ‘integrity from field to fork’ in everything we do,” said Alsum, President and CEO.
Following the field tour, employees toured the company’s new storage facility and saw its equipment that included tractors, a harvester and a windrower, which helps accelerate the harvest process. After touring the new facility and seeing the equipment, the employees concluded the day with a cookout.
