The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced it will delay the enforcement of the final rule Records To Be Kept by Official Establishments and Retail Stores That Grind Raw Beef Products (80 FR 79231).
FSIS will begin enforcing it on Oct. 1, offering retailers an additional four months to meet the requirements of the rule. According to the update, FSIS is planning additional outreach activities and materials over the course of the summer and fall to assist establishments and retail stores with compliance. FSIS issued the final rule setting new recordkeeping requirements for retailers that grind raw beef products in December 2015.
