St. Paul Sausage Maker Husnik Meat Co. Casing A Joint For Expansion

A South St. Paul meat company could be moving its sausage-making operation to Newport.

Joe Murphy, president of Husnik Meat Co., was granted a conditional-use permit for a building at 94 21st St. Murphy’s application was unanimously approved at the Aug. 20 meeting of the Newport City Council.

The decision brings Husnik a step closer to purchasing the site, which was formerly occupied by Kaiser Manufacturing. Representatives for Husnik would not comment, citing ongoing negotiations.
