FAIRFIELD – Needy families in five counties will be eating more chicken thanks to a partnership between Tyson Foods and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
A semi-tractor trailer carrying 15 tons of chicken products is scheduled to arrive Thursday morning at the Shared Food Harvest food bank, which distributes 12 million pounds of food each year through 120 agencies in Butler, Warren, Preble, Darke and Miami counties.
Thursday's donation is part of a one-million-pound, three-year commitment between Tyson and LULAC to address the issues of hunger in the Hispanic community. Since 2000, Tyson has donated more than 76 million pounds of protein products to more than 950 hunger-relief agencies nationwide.
