Philly-Gourmet Meat Company Debuts Turkey Patties

READING, Pa. — Philly-Gourmet Meat Company is putting turkey on the menu this
month in an expansion of its previously all-beef frozen convenience food product
line. The company is introducing ready-to-cook quarter-pound Philly-Gourmet
Turkey Homestyle Patties that come in two- and three-pound packages carrying
MSRPs of $8.99 and $10.99, respectively.

The burgers are made with 100% turkey and seasonings, shaped with irregular
edges to provide a handmade appearance, moist when cooked, and just 160 calories
each. Cooking times range from 10 to 18 minutes, depending whether the patties
are skillet-fried, oven-broiled or charcoal-grilled. Those times are comparable
to frozen ready-to-cook beef burgers, enabling consumers to serve beef and
non-beef eaters at the same time without worrying about synchronizing the
cooking schedule for different cooking speeds.

The new product coincides with steadily increasing consumer acceptance of turkey
burgers as well as ongoing growth in ground turkey sales. According to a
nationwide menu survey published by DataEssential Menu Trends, turkey burgers
are now served in roughly one in eight restaurants that serve burgers, marking a
10% growth in three years. Ground turkey sales also grew 10% in the two years
between 2005 and 2007, according to the latest data available from the National
Turkey Federation.

“Our new turkey patties tap into increasing consumer interest in turkey burgers
and are also a natural extension of the Philly-Gourmet brand,” said Sergei
Szortyka, President of Philly-Gourmet Meat Company. “They offer a burger
alternative for consumers who don’t eat beef, an easy solution for families with
both beef and non-beef eaters, and an ideal companion product for our beef
patties on the freezer shelf.”

The Philly-Gourmet product line also includes Philly-Gourmet Sandwich Steaks,
3-oz Homestyle Beef Patties, 6-oz Thick and Beefy Homestyle Patties, and
pre-cooked and pre-seasoned Prima Familia Meatballs.
